I'M TRYING TO GO OUT AND PLAY...

It seems like every year rain or work messes up my Beale Street Music Festival plans...Last night I wanted to a hear Jack Johnson do his thing on the river front...

But it looked like Woodstock down their...And you know how black people are when it come to social gatherings, rain, and mud...Just don't mix...But the white folks were down their crunkaseva (new word)...

So I decided to go to a house party...One of my bruhs was throwing it...I wasn't gonna go...Just have a blockbuster night...I cooked (baked catfish, garlic mashed potatos, and green peas)...Once I ate all of that I popped in the movie...And then I heard the rain tapping my window...A few minutes later...Knocked the hell out! But then my phone started ring off the charts...It was a one of the bruhs telling me about a party that they just planed 5 minutes ago...I told them I might stop through (just lying to get him off my phone)...Then folks start calling me every other minute about this party...And then some of my undergrad running mates called me up...All I have to say is the power of a text message...So I decided to get up and put on clothes and head out...It was a "moving party"...No furniture in the place...The only thing left was dj equipment and a full stocked bar...The place was crowded from top to bottom...It was cool...Until...

The dj started throwing in some of that grind music...And it turned into to a scene off a R. Kelly video...WTF? In heat is all I have to say about that...While we are talking about Kells, if you haven't picked up his new movie...

Anyway back to the story...It was time for me to go...I'm too grown to be at some ish like this...So I took my e-s-s to the house...That proves to me that some niggas just don't grow up...Now I see why sometimes I'm left outside of the loop of some of my old running mates...Cause they ain't about letting it go...I mean don't get me wrong it's cool to do some throwback type of sh!t every once in a while...But there is a line you must not cross...And they were some line-steppers last night...I just wish I had more friends in a 30 mile vicinity that I can have chill time with...All my close friends are spread out all over the country...It sucks...Well enough on that...

I just hope it clears up by Sunday so I can see...

What made you decide to become a member of Phi Beta Sigma?

I mean why not? It’s the summation of everything…I grew up around Sigmas my whole life…In my family tree that is all you see are MEN of the Blue and White (1 Alpha & 1 Kappa…But they are outcast at family reunion time…Just playin’…)…They didn’t force Sigma on me, they just showed me through action what a Sigma man was…I did my research on all organzations…I saw a lot of sh!t dealing with egos and stereotypes…And that wasn’t me…But when I researched Sigma I saw a group of men with different ideas of success to form one major goal…And it didn’t help out the situation when I researched members of the organization and I ran up on names like Alain Leroy Locke, James Weldon Johnson, Les Brown, John Lewis, Huey P. Newton, Kwame Nkurumah, “your” Harold Washington, A. Philip Randolph, Emmitt Smith, Blair Underwood…And the list keeps on going…And what sealed the deal was the bruhs of the “Devastating” Delta Nu Chapter at the University of Memphis…When I got to campus they were everywhere doing everything…RAs…Student Activities President…SGA…Football team…Basketball team…Track…Band…Orientation Guides…Any organization they had it covered…46 deep on campus…And growing…And they were and still the crunkest and coolest cats on the yard…No egos…The other organization were too busy doing nothing to be about something…And all of the rest had the nerve to try to jock when I came in as a freshmen…Talking about I know you want to be a “Kappa”…Come kicking with the “Ques”…If you want to go some where in your life you need to become a “Alpha” man…And the Sigmas didn’t come to me like that they just wanted to be my friends…Help me out on campus…And the rest of them cats were sick when I crossed Sigma…Cause the campus ws already on lock…And then SP 01 just killed it!Do

How you manage to keep your long distance relationship "fresh"

#1 is to keep prayer in your life…Have a prayer life together…Long Distance Relationship are so crazy at times because you are stuck in point that things are like a cycle sometimes…I’ve learned that you have to be creative…But long distance relationship give you time to do things on a individual basis…Like I sometimes go to the river front for sun set…And I think to myself how great this would be if Steph was here…And that makes me respect and appreciate her a lot more…That makes my love grow stronger…And sometimes when I go shopping I see stuff that she would look good in and I can’t help but to buy it…Just be creative…Don’t spend time arguing over stupid sh!t when you see each other…Cherish every moment you have…And make sure that you can keep your focus on the end product…I would rather go through this world with Steph than without…She’s my earth-angel…

1st Piece Get Your Grown Man On...

Well, y’all I got the word and Ciara and Bow Wow are definitely dating each other. Yup. Now, you know Mr. Wow is in that stage of trying to be grown so, what better way to get grown than to get with the biggest chick in R&B (at the moment) – his own girl. The word is Bow Wow’s first single is going to be a duet with CiCi. Don’t quote me on that though. But, they are rumored to be pretty damn happy.

Well last weekend I went home to see my folks...This is the 1st time I've been home since Christmas...And I live 2 hours away from them...Sad isn't it...Well anyway the story...There is something going on in the ring of my friends...Love is in the air...I have 4 friends that are getting married this summer...And 1 more that is talking about proposing...And the coolest thing about it was that 2 of them were around for verbal this weekend...It was like a little love conference or something...It was so good that it spilled over into the beginning of this week...And the main speakers were the Great Charlie B. & Fannie L. (my folks)...Well they have been married for 35 big ones...In these days in time that is amazing...Alot of people say that my parents aren't like everybody else...They don't disagree...They have never been through the wire...Well let me correct you on that...They have been through some stuff that would make our situations seem like a G Rated movie...In the last year I have dug up some stuff on my parents that I never knew...Soup Opera for real...But when my folks talk about relationships it seems like the world just stops for a few minutes...They both made it clear to drive home the fact that love is a working progress...You are not gonna feel the same about that person everyday...Moma said it like this, "I don't wake up everyday liking your father, but I see the bigger picture"...The bigger picture is that she is happier with him than she is without him...That is priceless...They said that is the true test...I totally understand what they were talking about...I love Steph with everything I have and I know she gives me 110% all the day...Sometimes she gives until she is red in the face (she's kinda light skinnedededed)...I'm on her mind just as much as she is on mine...But everyday doesn't feel like a 6 pack of fuzzies and a Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway duet...Some days I question everything??? Love...Life...Future...Us...That's Human...But when I think about the bigger picture I wouldn't want anybody else in my corner...I know sometimes I can get on her nerves...She can surely drive me up a wall...Sometimes she doesn't think I notice her love that she displays...And I can see where it can drive her to question...But I notice...The days she call during her busy Tuesday & Thursday class schedule...The times she text me during her long emergency meetings to tell me "I love you"...The weekend getaways to the M, Knox, or Halfway...I know right now she's busy...Grad school can be a motha...But I understand...I just want her to keep on giving me what she can...Cause the end of the tunnel is coming soon...I would take those bad days with her than not to have no day at all...Life without her is enough to make me cry...A very wise man once told me this to kind put it all in a nutshell..."You have 1 earth-angel in your life time...DON'T MESS IT UP"..."And if you messed it up...Fix it"..."When the sh!t hits the fan and the fan breaks...Don't panick...JUST FIX THE DAMN FAN!"...Well I guess that is enough on that...

The Return...
